AVON YOUTH LEAGUE U’15 DIV 3

SUN 3 SEPT 06

FRY CLUB COLTS 2

SHIRE REDS 2

The first league match of the new season which put us against the team we played away in the last match of last season. That game was a comfortable win but this was to be a different outcome.

Unfortunately out of the 13 players registered so far we found ourselves without 2 players who were on holiday together with the manager. So the 11 remaining players took to the field knowing their team spirit was to be very important today. Playing on pitch 13 in the far corner was also unusual but it was Frys who took advantage of this bigger pitch as we opened the scoring through Brad Monelle. However, our problems got worse as Michael Payne had to go off through injury and with no subs we played out the remainder of the game with 10 men. Shire levelled the scores with a well worked goal taking advantage of the wind and were then soon in front. Frys team spirit rose again and Jordan Knight brought us back to 2-2 with a fine effort. Late in the game Shire should have won but the close effort was ballooned over the bar by their forward. So a draw was the end result which we were very happy with given the circumstances.

All 11 lads played their part to ensure we didn’t lose but the Man of the Match award to day went to central defender James Boulton.
